Imagine you’re going to the biggest party in the universe. What do you want do when you arrive? Probably put away your coat, get a cocktail and some hors’d eourves, then find people you know and have a conversation with them. After that, you’d want to find out what the most interesting conversations in the party are and listen in on them. Everything else besides these conversations would be just background noise that you’d ignore.

So you’re at this party, and you’re having conversations with people you know, and you’re also listening in on the most interesting conversations other people are happening, and you’re ignoring everything else.
